Call me a Skater Chick
I have converted. Some of my friends have been patiently (sometimes not very patiently) waiting for me to get up the nerve to try skateboarding (I have actually skated a teeny eensy weensy little bit before, but not enough to really count).
So, on Friday, for my friend Jenn's 21st birthday, I went down to SkateStreet in Ventura and surprised Jenn, cause she didn't know I was coming. It was great to see her face. She was in shock for a while that I took the afternoon off and came down (and I was a bit amazed that my dad actually let me take it off, too--definitely a God thing there *wink*). So, I got started on the basics of skating at the skatepark and I had a blast, despite the fact I fell and landed on my butt--HARD. I have a bruise to prove it (but don't worry, I won't be showing off that particular battle wound....).
Then last night, Jenn and I, along with her little bro Zach (who is 7) went over to an Elementary school not far from her house and skated around for an hour. I got some more basics down, started feeling even more comfortable on the board and all that stuff. So now, I can not only get on the board and roll without falling off, I can shift the board forward and backwards, even while moving (though just a little), and general things like that. I am so stoked, it's not even funny! (Ok, it is funny...) So yeah, needless to say, I am sold. Skater-chick-dom, here I am! Haha.
Pretty soon, I should be able to skate to work, rather than drive or walk. Woohoo.
Ok, Moving on.....
Today was an interesting day. It all started when I woke up late cause of a snafu with my alarm. It didn't go off at the right time, and I am not quite sure what happened there. So, I woke up to the sound of my cell phone ringing 15 minutes after I was supposed to be at work--my dad calling me to see where I am. So, I hurriedly got ready and got to the office about 35 minutes late or so. Oopsies!
Then it got better...
At lunch, I find out I am locked out of the house. There apparently was some confusion, as I left my key under the mat for the girl who is moving in at the moment, cause she and her dad (who is helping her move) had gone out for breakfast. I figured she would use the key and leave it under the mat again if she wasn't at the house.
I was wrong. So one of my roommates came and unlocked the house for me. *sigh*
It's not really that bad acutally. It was just a tad annoying.
Plus, I am looking forward to my friend Stix, aka Jen from Bakersfield, coming into town tonight to spend a few days with her Santa Barbara friends. And she's staying at my house (yay!). I just hope I'm not tempted to stay up too late. Cause that happens enough without anyone staying at my house.
Ok, I am done yammering on now (which reminds me, Jenn was telling me last night that "yammering" is one of my fave words--I never really noticed that particular fact. But I think I yammer on a lot, so perhaps I use it a lot in pointing out that fact) (speaking of which, have you noticed how I have enjoyed using parentheses in this post) (oh yes...)
